Things are looking good so far, I have to change the images and little formatting quirks. Still though, the whole site is in PHP + HTML now. This way it will be even easier to upgrade in future. It’s fun taking these little steps to simplicity of upgrading a site. The function is awesome by the way.

Still messing around with the logo, at least I know I want Helvitica though. I’m experimenting a lot with the cube still, colors shape etc, which by the way is harder if you don’t have Illustrator. Oh there’s no shadow in these, that should be changed.
In other news I filmed some stuff last week and hopefully will resume posting semi-regularly this or next week.

I’m starting to implement the redesign of my website slowly but surely. Moving the blog to the front page was the first sign of this. Having said that don’t click on the “News / Blog” tab in the header unless you want to look at my lovely 404 page. So yea, I’m excited, hopefully I get everything moved in time and it’s not like this for long.
OH…!
I’m also ending SquareSearch, it was cool and fun while it lasted, but honestly I can’t maintain it at this point, maybe I’ll bring it back in the future when it works more effectively.

Actually it was designed in 2008 but that’s beside the point. I’m getting a little tired of using Hypatia Sans for everything. And so Helvetica comes to the rescue! I think, below is a little mock up of the site’s new logo.
I don’t know if I will actually use it or not. I don’t even know if I will redesign or not, I’ve done at least a dozen sketches of what I would like it to be, time is precious though and I’ve recently discovered my school’s media lab where there are electronic keyboards plugged into Macs. The music you’ve been hearing in my FiveAwesomeCubers videos is from that.
Before I end this post big thanks to everyone who has been wishing me luck here in college, it’s been very pleasant so far, thank you.

that’s right! I really haven’t so I’ll make an attempt here.
Summer’s going absolutely fine, I think the pump in the swamp cooler in my house is broken so it’s really hot right now, and hot air is just filling up all the rooms. Good for cubing! Kinda.
So I’ll be departing for the Aurora competition tomorrow near Denver, that will be super fun, seems though that there will be a fair amount of slower people than usual people there, but that’s cool, means I’ll get to do some judgin’. But that’s Denver, and I suppose I’ve gotten too used to competing at the US Nationals or West or East coast competitions.
In case no one has noticed, I’ve started some new projects recently, first there’s Tip of the Week that’s every Wednesday on my channel (youtube.com/thrawst). The other thing is the FiveAwesomeCubers channel that’s every Friday here. Both of those are pretty much all I do now as making all those videos on a schedule keeps me busy-ish. I only hope I can continue to produce them in college.
So I guess that’s it, I’ve had a lot of requests recently to update the OLL section, and I’m happy to say that I’ll be (hopefully) updating that within the weeks to come, so check back on it.
Bye!

I’ve come across wanting something like this for a while. I’ve never liked searching speedsolving.com with the site’s search, because it will never tell you where the word or phrase occurs. Sure I could have done that with Google with a simple “term site: speedsolving.com” but I wanted something more comprehensive. Thus SquareSearch (powered by Google) was created and there is now an easier way you can search algorithms, terms, and people for cubing all at once!

The problem of course is that there needs to be more sites that the engine goes through. Somehow I left out a couple big resources when creating the list. Again that’s where the user comes in, adding to the list is easy (for the user, I have to then slave away for one or two minutes adding the site to the list).
In short I hope it’s used a lot, I’m not going to be around much longer to answer every one’s questions all the time on YouTube and make videos as frequently. So hopefully Square Search will fill in where I leave off, which is actually a lot. But I’m not gone yet, that’s a ways off from now, until then enjoy, keep using, and improving SquareSearch.
