Progress

November 30th, 2009

Things are looking good so far, I have to change the images and little formatting quirks. Still though, the whole site is in PHP + HTML now. This way it will be even easier to upgrade in future. It’s fun taking these little steps to simplicity of upgrading a site. The function is awesome by the way.

another crack at it.

Still messing around with the logo, at least I know I want Helvitica though. I’m experimenting a lot with the cube still, colors shape etc, which by the way is harder if you don’t have Illustrator. Oh there’s no shadow in these, that should be changed.

In other news I filmed some stuff last week and hopefully will resume posting semi-regularly this or next week.

So my camera broke…

Some Updates N’ Stuff

May 23rd, 2009

So to start off with the big one,I graduated from High School on Thursday the 21st. It was pretty cool, I feel no different now, I’ll be attending college soonish. Which leads me to telling you where I’m going: Earlham College, in Richmond, Indiana. So that’s going to be awesome, but what I think will be even better is how close I’ll be to Cincinnati, home lots of things but most importantly for me: the annual Cincinnati Open! That will be ill to go to that when I can. I’m sure there are lots of other competitions I’m overlooking, but I’ve heard great things about that competition and I hope they’re still doing that.

Also, I got a Twitter. It would be lovely if you could all follow me on that as I will be using primarily to give updates about videos and surprise broadcasts that I do out of nowhere. Odd stories getting it though, I filled out the “New Account” form three times (it’s like 5 questions: real name, desired username, password, email, and a captcha), two of those times I completely deleted the form, in fear of getting a Twitter account. For the same reason that I don’t want an xbox 360 because of how addicted I get to doing pointless achievements, I was afraid that I would Tweet my meals and when I would be in my car. It’s nothing like that for those of you who also have second thoughts about getting a Twitter.

And to end this update, the booklet/pamphlet/guide I briefly showed in my most recent video is almost done, and I can’t wait to release it, I just need to test it a lot more on people, work out the kinks. The end.

Square Search Release

March 27th, 2009

I’ve come across wanting something like this for a while. I’ve never liked searching speedsolving.com with the site’s search, because it will never tell you where the word or phrase occurs. Sure I could have done that with Google with a simple “term site: speedsolving.com” but I wanted something more comprehensive. Thus SquareSearch (powered by Google) was created and there is now an easier way you can search algorithms, terms, and people for cubing all at once!

The problem of course is that there needs to be more sites that the engine goes through. Somehow I left out a couple big resources when creating the list. Again that’s where the user comes in, adding to the list is easy (for the user, I have to then slave away for one or two minutes adding the site to the list).

In short I hope it’s used a lot, I’m not going to be around much longer to answer every one’s questions all the time on YouTube and make videos as frequently. So hopefully Square Search will fill in where I leave off, which is actually a lot. But I’m not gone yet, that’s a ways off from now, until then enjoy, keep using, and improving SquareSearch.

Blender is hard to use..

December 21st, 2008

…and it’s winter break (at last)! So as that ancient video in that link describes, means I’m taking requests for videos, (of course I always take requests, just I don’t nescesarily come through with them). So yea, comment, message me, send a smoke signal through the stratosphere, just don’t call me or send me a letter. Any how, thought I’d re propose that, hopefully I won’t be as consumed this year with making all the requests.
