My Website’s look is so 2007

September 19th, 2009

Actually it was designed in 2008 but that’s beside the point. I’m getting a little tired of using Hypatia Sans for everything. And so Helvetica comes to the rescue! I think, below is a little mock up of the site’s new logo.TheSixSides 3.0

I don’t know if I will actually use it or not. I don’t even know if I will redesign or not, I’ve done at least a dozen sketches of what I would like it to be, time is precious though and I’ve recently discovered my school’s media lab where there are electronic keyboards plugged into Macs. The music you’ve been hearing in my FiveAwesomeCubers videos is from that.

Before I end this post big thanks to everyone who has been wishing me luck here in college, it’s been very pleasant so far, thank you.

Some stuff to Feed you

I’ve updated the site today more than I have in the last four months. I don’t really know why today, with school work being done I don’t really have anything else to do, to fill that time I update the site a little bit. Now bare with me, it’s only a few new things…

RSS Feed: I’ve been trying to get this feature working for a while, having that sort of connectivity to readers and site visitors is something that has been missing. Turns out it was there the whole time but I had the links wrong. You can subscribe to it by clicking here

Little Visual Quirks: This one is barely noticeable but it affects all pages.

Old

New

New

The edges of all elements’ containers are smoother now, the difference is very subtle but the absence of the hard edge is very noticeable.

Sooooo that’s it, on another note I’m very close to getting a Twitter in order to keep everyone updated with when I’m making a video, or maybe going to do a broadcast, the possabilities are endless.

Ah! This looks new!

Indeed it does. It took a rather long amount of time but sure enough TheSixSides blog is not in theme with every other page on this site, hurrah! I must say it has been bothering me recently, how all other pages had all this time and effort put into them, and this blog remained unchanged from the default WordPress theme. It’s feels good now that it all matches. While this blog layout may not entirely be done, nor valid, I can modify all the little things (like how this title header is awfully close to the top, and whatever other bugs I find, etc.) with relative ease.

The sidebar is a little boring, I’ll work on that when I want to.

Isn’t web design fun!
