January 24th, 2010
So my site update is almost complete, I won’t go into details what I still want to change but I’ll tell you there are going to be some ads some places. (and if you want some feel free to contact me ;) ) Now for some other stuff to talk about.
I’m going to the Indiana Open 2010! So far some amazing and experienced cubers have registered including Mike Hughey, Dave Cambell, and Dan Cohen combine that with the event lineup it looks like it’ll be fun. I’ve never been to a so inland competition (or maybe not, it might actually be the 2nd most) before so I’m really looking forward to it, February 27th add it to your calendar (only if you’re in the area, don’t feel obliged to go to this competition if you reside in southern California you guys have a higher volume of amazing cubers there anyway I don’t know why you would want to compete anywhere else). Gotsta practice lots now.
School is keeping me busy here, and my free time is accidentally put towards Hulu, some video games, and Fireball Island (there is nothing else like that board game around). I’m also in a video production class, so maybe you’ll see some stuff I’ve done with that in the future. Finally: at this point I nor the others have any plans for the FiveAwesomeCubers.

July 16th, 2009
that’s right! I really haven’t so I’ll make an attempt here.
Summer’s going absolutely fine, I think the pump in the swamp cooler in my house is broken so it’s really hot right now, and hot air is just filling up all the rooms. Good for cubing! Kinda.
So I’ll be departing for the Aurora competition tomorrow near Denver, that will be super fun, seems though that there will be a fair amount of slower people than usual people there, but that’s cool, means I’ll get to do some judgin’. But that’s Denver, and I suppose I’ve gotten too used to competing at the US Nationals or West or East coast competitions.
In case no one has noticed, I’ve started some new projects recently, first there’s Tip of the Week that’s every Wednesday on my channel (youtube.com/thrawst). The other thing is the FiveAwesomeCubers channel that’s every Friday here. Both of those are pretty much all I do now as making all those videos on a schedule keeps me busy-ish. I only hope I can continue to produce them in college.
So I guess that’s it, I’ve had a lot of requests recently to update the OLL section, and I’m happy to say that I’ll be (hopefully) updating that within the weeks to come, so check back on it.
Bye!

May 23rd, 2009
So to start off with the big one,I graduated from High School on Thursday the 21st. It was pretty cool, I feel no different now, I’ll be attending college soonish. Which leads me to telling you where I’m going: Earlham College, in Richmond, Indiana. So that’s going to be awesome, but what I think will be even better is how close I’ll be to Cincinnati, home lots of things but most importantly for me: the annual Cincinnati Open! That will be ill to go to that when I can. I’m sure there are lots of other competitions I’m overlooking, but I’ve heard great things about that competition and I hope they’re still doing that.
Also, I got a Twitter. It would be lovely if you could all follow me on that as I will be using primarily to give updates about videos and surprise broadcasts that I do out of nowhere. Odd stories getting it though, I filled out the “New Account” form three times (it’s like 5 questions: real name, desired username, password, email, and a captcha), two of those times I completely deleted the form, in fear of getting a Twitter account. For the same reason that I don’t want an xbox 360 because of how addicted I get to doing pointless achievements, I was afraid that I would Tweet my meals and when I would be in my car. It’s nothing like that for those of you who also have second thoughts about getting a Twitter.
And to end this update, the booklet/pamphlet/guide I briefly showed in my most recent video is almost done, and I can’t wait to release it, I just need to test it a lot more on people, work out the kinks. The end.

I’ll make a video of this no doubt, but it should be written. Plenty of people have been asking me to go to some competition somewhere. I have to emphasize to them that I can’t go to every competition that comes around in North America. As much as I’d love to my travel range is rather limited, especially during the school year. The Princeton open in 2008 was different, I was on spring break and I had relatives on the east coast that I hadn’t seen in a while, so the competition was convenient in that sense. Other competitions on the East coast would normally not be open to me.
For the most part you can expect me to attend more competitions in the West. California, constantly has compeitions that are well run and orginized, furthermore it seems Colorado is starting to hold more competitions which would be beneficial to me given that most of Colorado is within a 6-8 hour drive away. For now the only thing I can promise to people is the still unannounced Caltech Winter Competition at the San Francisco Exporatorium, there are always fun competitions.

March 30th, 2008
There have been three competitions in the last two days one three different continents, included are several new records pushing the competition even further in the world of speedcubing. We’ll go in reverse order.
Chattahoochee Spring: Chris Hardwick (my cubing hero) is back setting the world records for solving big cubes blindfolded again. Now that Mayas Kuti is out of competition for a few years the Blindfolded events are going to see some major competition. Already the contest for the first official (and legal) sub-minute solve is under way, the closest person to it seeming to be Rowe Hessler, claiming an astounding 54.77 Blindfolded average of 12 last week. But until he gets to a competition, the record still stands at 1:00.62 set by Alexander Yu at Princeton last week.
Danish Open: There were no world records set at this competition, again now that Kuti is out, European competitions are going to be a little more saturated, as in a lot more National Records, less World Records. The only other thing which I find more funny about this competition is that former world record holder Erik Akkersdijk won everything except three events. Made me laugh anyway.
Osaka Open: This competition was filled with World Records, most significant being the World Record 3×3 average World Champion Yu Nakajima set at 11.33! His times (16.69) , 12.56, (10.46), 10.72, 10.71 are proof that he is capable of a sub-11 or possibly even a sub-10 average in a competition. Giving the best solvers on all continents a run for their money. Other World Records include Takayuki Ookusa‘s World Record single solve of 1:27.43 and his average of 1:35.04, which coincidently equals my personal best for the 4×4!
So that’s it for this weekend, until next time keep cubing!
